Self assessment can feel daunting — but it doesn't have to be. Whether you're a CIS contractor, a company director, a sole trader, or a landlord, we take the stress out of your annual tax return and make sure you're paying exactly what you owe — not a penny more.
We prepare your self assessment return accurately, claim every allowable deduction and expense, and file it with HMRC on time. We also review your tax position throughout the year to identify any planning opportunities before the deadline arrives.
Many of our clients come to us having previously done their own returns and later discovered they'd been missing out on significant deductions. We make sure that doesn't happen.
We work with self-employed individuals, CIS subcontractors, company directors with dividend income, landlords, and anyone with income that falls outside PAYE — across Hull, Beverley, Cottingham, Hessle, Willerby, and throughout East Yorkshire.

Common Questions
Who needs to file a self assessment tax return?+
You need to file if you're self-employed, a company director, a landlord, earn over £100,000, have income from savings or investments, or have any income that hasn't been taxed at source. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll advise you.
What is the self assessment deadline?+
The deadline for online self assessment returns is 31 January following the end of the tax year (5 April). So for the 2024/25 tax year, the deadline is 31 January 2026. We recommend filing well before this deadline to avoid any last-minute issues.
What expenses can I claim as a sole trader?+
You can claim any expense that is wholly and exclusively for business purposes — including tools, materials, vehicle costs, home office expenses, professional subscriptions, accountancy fees, and more. We'll make sure you claim everything you're entitled to.
I'm a CIS subcontractor — can I reclaim my deductions?+
Yes. If you've had CIS deductions taken from your payments, you may be entitled to a refund if the deductions exceed your actual tax liability. We prepare your self assessment return to ensure any overpaid tax is reclaimed from HMRC.
